STEMAP Training

STEMAP training consists of five modules (pictured below), which are typically conveyed through a workshop series and one-on-one meetings. Scientists first participate in an interview with the STEMAP team where they distill their research, personal interests, and experiences to articulate their “impact identity.” STEMAP guides scientists in identifying engagement opportunities and communities that resonate with their impact identity. Scientists then participate in a series of workshops where they develop skills to build relationships in the community, design an engagement activity specific to the community, and develop communication skills to carry out the activity. Each scientist carries out an engagement activity as part of their STEM Ambassador training.
